2010 Football Coupon Book “Parent Volunteer” Request!!!

February is that time of year again when we ask for a few of the football parents to help coordinate our

annual Football Coupon Book, which the players will use to gather donations in July. We have

provided this coupon book, as a “money saving gift in exchange for a donation” tool, for many years

now and it continues to bring in the necessary funding we need to enhance and upgrade our football

program!!! It also teaches the players about the importance of team pride, spirit and unity!!! The

coupon book provides 55-60 various local vendors/businesses FREE advertising, so it helps support our

local community and the football program at the same time!!! If you, an AHS football parent, has a

local business and would like to put an offer in the coupon book, please contact us about it ASAP! The

first step in this process is to form a committee of football parent volunteers to help us out. It is

beneficial to have at least 8-10 committee members which means we need to have 4-5 volunteers from

each team: Varsity (current Soph/Jr. classes) and Jr. Varsity (current Freshman class). This is a great

volunteering opportunity as you only have one committee meeting; plenty of time to work on it and it is

on your own time. Here is a brief overview of what this process entails:

The Coupon Book has proven to be the football program’s most PROFITABLE fundraiser, as the

players typically bring in contributions of $30,000 plus! Developing the Coupon Book mainly

involves visiting business’ to offer free advertising “renewals” and there is no money to be collected,

etc. We have a list of those businesses who have participated in the past to divide between the

committee members. The committee’s job is to go visit the past year’s local vendors to ask for their

continued support by renewing their coupon and have them authorize it for printing, etc. Some may

just keep their coupon as is or change to a better offer, or just have the expiration date changed.

Some will need to reformat or change the artwork, etc. In these cases a bit more contact will be

necessary, but still not too time consuming. There are new coupons added each year so we will need

to assist on creating their graphics/offers for these vendors as well. This renewal process starts in

March and you will have until the middle of April to get them finalized. In May, we send them on to

the graphics layout person. They are returned back to us for vendor approval and to proof-read. The

next step is to send them to the printer which is around the end of May. Completed books are sent

into Coach Wegher and then distributed to the players in late June. Thank you notes are then

prepared and sent. The “Coupon Blitz ;ight” on Monday, July 12th is the finale! ***FYI…this year

we will be revising the “strategies” for the Blitz ;ight which will be explained in detail at the summer

parent meeting. The JV/Varsity mandatory parent meeting will be held the evening of June 30th at

AHS Room A-1… so PLEASE mark your calendar now!!!

My goal is for this project to run as smooth as the years past so we can help the boys raise the

necessary funds they need for the best football experience possible. With your help I am
